What is Hypnosis?

Is there a Difference Between Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy?
Hypnosis comes from the Greek word Hypnos who was the god of sleep. The word hypnosis was introduced into the popular consciousness by Dr. James Braid way back in the 1840’s and it is not a form of sleep. But in reality, you are very much awake and very much aware of your surroundings. Yes and I know you’ve seen the stage show where people are made to cluck like a chicken, this is entertainment and not Hypnotherapy. Certainly nothing like the online hypnotherapy practiced by me at Hypnosis Rathgar. This is something very different and very much in tune with bringing about positive beneficial changes for you.
Hypnotherapy simply put, is a therapy which takes place whilst a person is in a hypnotic state, or as some call it, in a trance!
